What is church? New Home United Methodist is such a blessing and wonderful opportunity for us, like a glimpse into the heavenly places. And other churches—St Christopher, Canyon UMC, Mt Vernon, Melvin UMC in Alabama—have been a grace as well. But real church is that network of lasting relationships with folks, living and dead, in which God is loving us into the life of Christ as community (Bonhoeffer). Church can and does happen at churches; it is always, however, both bigger and smaller—much more intimate—than just the churches we attend. Calder and I are deeply grateful for all of you who are church to us through God’s love among us.
